The Master of Science in Technology in the building trade usually takes 5-8 years to complete. The degree can be obtained either at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Helsinki University of Technology, or the Department of Civil Engineering of the Tampere University of Technology. A matriculation examination forms the basis of the studies.

The curriculum offers specialization in structural engineering, infrastructure engineering, production engineering or environmental engineering.

The Masters of Science in Technology in the building trade generally work in construction planning, construction management, research, education and in other building trade administration and management duties.

They are employed both by the private and public sector or work as independent entrepreneurs.
